Prof. J.S. Panwar

Dr. J.S. Panwar is former Director, University Business School, and Dean Faculty of Management, Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. Prior to this he had a brief stint with industry and also taught at B.N. PG College affiliated to MLS University, Udaipur for 15 years. After superannuation from Sardar Patel University in June 2010, he took over as Director SVIM Indore in February 2011 and worked there till June 2013. During his tenure SVIM was accredited with ‘A’ grade by UGC- NAAC Bangalore. Two of his book titles ‘Marketing in the New Era’ (1997) and ‘Beyond Consumer Marketing’ (2004) have been published by SAGE Publications, New Delhi. These tiles are also listed at Amazon.com. Eight edited book volumes with ISBN numbers have been published by Delhi based publishers.

Dr. Panwar has published 82 papers in various national and international journals and presented 68 papers in seminars and conferences in India and abroad. He has been invited as resource person at several FDP/MDP programmes and also as chairperson/ keynote speaker/penal member in 27 national and six international conferences.   So far 27 scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degree under his supervision and three more are working under his guidance. He has examined 142 Ph.D. dissertations from different universities across the country.

He has worked as Project Director on four major research projects and five minor projects funded by the UGC, ICSSR and other funding agencies. He has also received best teacher, best research paper, and best research publication awards during his 37 year long teaching and research career.

He is on the panel of selection committees and Board of Studies of several universities and Management Institutes in six different states of the country. He has also worked on the expert panels of Gujarat and J&K Public Service Commissions. He was one of the three members of the committee that drafted the MBA syllabus of Gujarat Technological University in 2010. His areas of interest include Marketing Research, Consumer Behavior, Brand Management and Advertising.

Dr. Panwar has travelled extensively across the country. He has visited all the neighbouring (SARC) countries and also south-east Asian countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Macau. During May-June 2011 he has toured 10 European countries including UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Netherlands. In November 2012 he had been to Japan to chair a technical session and also to present a paper titled “Economic Development of India: Quest for Sustainability” in an international conference at Osaka.
